Celebrating EucXylo Hans Merensky day.

On 13 October 2025, the EucXylo team gathered at the beautiful Erinvale Hotel and Conference Venue for our annual Hans Merensky EucXylo Research Meeting. The day brought together students, researchers, and collaborators to share ideas, celebrate progress, and connect through a shared passion for tree science and innovation.

The programme featured a diverse range of presentations highlighting the depth of research happening within EucXylo, from plant hydraulics and spatial transcriptomics to tree monitoring technologies, modelling, and the hidden lives of soil invertebrates and leaf microbiomes. Each talk reflected the creativity and dedication of our researchers, showcasing the interdisciplinary nature of EucXylo’s work.

In the afternoon, guests visited the IMPACT Open-Air Laboratory (OAL), where they experienced our research in action and enjoyed a bit of fresh air among the trees. The visit offered a glimpse into how field-based experiments complement our laboratory and computational studies, linking theory and practice in exciting ways.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making the day a success, especially our students for their enthusiasm and curiosity, and to the Hans Merensky Legacy Foundation for their continued support of our mission to advance sustainable forestry and plant science.

Days like this remind us how special it is to be part of the EucXylo community, a space where collaboration, curiosity, and innovation grow together.
